COMPUTER ENGINEERING

B.Tech. in Computer Engineering is an undergraduate program which started in the Academic Year of 2006-2007. The objective of this program is to prepare students technically and professionally with grave importance on developing citizenship values while maintaining high ethical standards. The program also inspires students to undertake higher studies (Post graduation etc.) and research oriented careers. The curriculum is following international standards (ABET requirements) which means creating a balance of mathematics, basics sciences and humanities and computer engineering.

  • Program duration: 4 Years
  • Unique features of the program: AICTE approved
    • Modern facilities to provide ambience and technical support for curricular and extra-curricular activities for the overall development of students.
    • Dedicated, qualified faculty to ensure high standards of Teaching, Learning and Evaluation processes.
    • Periodic review and revision of the curriculum, based on the feedback from the industry, to ensure the relevance of the program to the changing needs of industry.
    • Semester-wise planning of the academic year ensures optimized utilization of the resources effectively and efficiently.
    • Industry internships and industry based project works are arranged as a part of the broader curricula to facilitate recognition and rewards to the students in the form of job offers or supportive background for further studies and research.
  • Program constituents

The following are the program constituents, which guide the inputs, delivery and outcomes of the program:

  1. Faculty:

Faculty members are the owners of the program curriculum and are the guardians of the quality of knowledge dispensed. Their overall input and governance define the educational objectives of the B.Tech Computer Engineering program.

  1. Employer:

Employers come to the campus every year to interview graduating students. The Placement Cell has an active recruitment process for graduates. Most students seeking employment are already placed in their respective jobs by the time they graduate. The Employers tend to view graduates as ‘Industry- ready’. Employers offer suggestions to the Department for improvement to meet the changing industry needs.

  1. Alumni:

Alumni are considered to be members of the extended family of NMIMS. They maintain a fond connection with the institution and its people and are also involved in evaluating the program objectives. NMIMS alumni interact with the program coordinators and faculty members as members of Departmental Advisory Board (DAB). Alumni also interact with its alma mater at individual levels. They provide valuable inputs to improve the program.

  • Program Education Objectives (PEOs):
    • Technical Growth- Graduates will gain expertise in modern engineering practices and entrepreneurship and be easily able to integrate themselves into the local and global workforce and contribute to the economy of India at large.
    • Professional Skills- Graduates will continue to acquire and demonstrate the professional skills necessary to become competent employees, be leaders in their own rights and enjoy career successes and satisfaction.
    • Professional Attitude and Citizenship- Graduates will become productive citizens demonstrating high ethical and professional standards capable of making sound engineering or managerial decisions and have healthy enthusiasm for the profession and professional growth.
  • Student Outcomes (SOs)

Graduates of the B.Tech Computer Engineering program will have an ability to:

  1. Identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics.
  2. Apply engineering designs to produce solutions that meet specified needs with respect to public health, safety and welfare, taking well into account the global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors.
  3. Communicate effectively with a wide of range of audiences.
  4. Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities of the engineering field and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions on global, economic, environmental and societal requirements.
  5. Function effectively in teams, with participative and leadership skills, create collaborative and inclusive environments, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  6. Conduct appropriate experimentations, analyze and interpret data and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  7. Acquire and apply cutting edge engineering knowledge as required, using appropriate learning strategies.
