Inaguration of PGDM 2013-15 Batch

On the 29 of June 2013, the inauguration of PGDM Batch 2013-15 was held at MDP centre of NMIMS Hyderabad campus. Honorable Advisor of NMIMS Dr Jayashankaran inaugurated the program along with Mr.Harshvendra Soin (VP-HR, Tech Mahindra) and Mr.Vikas Gupta (Director-Talent, Deloitte). The welcome address was given by Dr B Karunakar, Director NMIMS, Hyderabad. He emphasized on the course structure for first year, including the outbound activities, industrial visits, academics and the internships. He threw light upon some of the events that were conducted in the first academic year for the PGDM batch 2012-14.He presented the journey of NMIMS from the date of its launch and showcased the commendable path traversed by NMIMS Hyderabad.

Mr.Harshvendra Soin explained the global perspective of an organization that requires students of B-Schools to be future ready and updated about the industry to combat the hyper change that the world is experiencing today. He talked of the borderline difference between average and excellence and opined that the capability to excel lies in everyone, and the key differentiator that helps one achieve the sustainable advantage is the talent that one possesses. He presented the 6 universal traits that are required across industries: Possessing a Winning attitude, Ability to Challenge the status quo, Ability to Inspire, Resilience, Team work and Excellence. He stressed upon Excellence as the key to success.

Mr.Vikas Gupta, the second Guest Speaker for the day, explained the concept of the three Es namely Education, Exposure and Experience. He brought out a compelling analogy between the social networking concepts and the career challenges.

The ceremony was concluded by Dr N Jayasankaran, Advisor to NMIMS. He spoke on the importance of self learning that should happen throughout one’s life. He aligned it to the learning that happens at NMIMS. He explained that one should think big and try to learn from one’s failures in one’s quest for perfection. He spoke about the importance of possessing strong communication skills and how premier B-Schools like NMIMS work at achieving this while preparing the future managers .He advised that one should work at holistic development taking into consideration 5 dimensions of learning namely intellectual, physical, social, emotional & spiritual and that learning happens in 4 parts i.e 25% from teacher, 25% by own efforts, 25% by peer interaction and the last 25% with passage of time. He urged the budding managers to continuously update and compete with the world through their pursuit for excellence.
